Just a couple of days ago, we heard about some McDonalds-branded MP3 players that came with a side order of spyware, but that could be pretty easily dismissed, considering they used some generic made-in-China player for their purposes. This more recent news, however, is a little more disconcerting. It appears that about 1% of Video iPods shipped since September 12th are infected with RavMonE.exe, a menacing virus that cripples your computer`s security system. Worst yet, after downing your defences, it broadcasts your vulnerability to a number of shady websites to let them know that you are there for their hacking pleasure. Interestingly, this is a Windows-only virus: Apple says that “we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it.”
